Dear friends of Geos-Weiningen.ch
Three years after the founding of Geos-Weiningen.ch we have stopped today our observations here in Weiningen. This is due to our move in the canton of Jura.
We can there, under optimal conditions, continue our series of measurements. The advantageous location, far away from light pollution and wintry fog layers, allows us to continue and develop our observations in the context of the FMA
and the IOUAEP
and gives us the chance to implement further astronomical observations. The absence of traffic emissions also gives us the opportunity to measure earthquakes much more accurate than it was possible till today.
In the past three years, more than 22,000 visitors attended in around 51,000 visits more than 324,000 times one of our webpages. We could answer many inquiries concerning our measurements and could welcome some visitors even live at our station. We had continually developed our observing programs, learned a lot and are now involved in many national and international monitoring programs.
For the great motivation and support of our visitors, partners and friends, we would like to thank you very much. Without it, a private enterprise such as Geos-Weiningen.ch would hardly have been possible.
How does it go from here? In mid-September we will end the data recording and degrade the instruments. The station's website - at a reduced size - stays online, so that you can access the archive data at any time.
No later than January 2015, we will be back online in new look at ogvt.org
and look forward to meet you there again.
The Geos-Weiningen.ch team
